Teknotherm expands

- There is a growing global demand for comfort and air conditioning. There is also a growing global demand to preserve food by cooling and freezing. Therefore, there is a large global market for refrigeration plants, as Teknotherm has designed and produced in more than 80 years, says owner and chairman of Teknotherm AS, Lars Berg.

Teknotherm AS has had a very expansive development in recent years. Large parts of the increase in activity has occurred through a conscious commitment to the maritime export market for various types of refrigeration plants. To strengthen the company's market and competitive situation, now further establishes new subsidiaries in Sweden and in China.

Offshore investment in Gothenburg

- We have for some time struggling with recruiting qualified people with technical background from refrigeration to our headquarters in Halden, says CEO Roy Moberg. We are now establishing a subsidiary company in Gothenburg, where the access for core qualifications is better. Teknotherm AB in Gothenburg will primarily work for offshore and cruise industry, and will in the beginning be a pure sales- and engineering environment with expertise to these markets. We are experiencing great demand for our products, particularly for offshore, and has already offers in the market for a value of approx. 30 MSEK, says sales director Mats Udèn. We believe Teknotherm AB and the company's headquarter in Halden can complement each other in relation to sale and delivery.
The idea is that the refrigeration systems sold from Gothenburg will be produced at the factory in Halden, end Udèn.
In the long run, Teknotherm AB will also build up a service concept in Gothenburg. The company in Gothenburg starts with a staff of 4 persons and will be formally headed by Roy Moberg.

Building a new factory in China

- Teknotherm has for years been a market actor in China. China is the strongest-growing country within the construction of new ships, and we want to be part of this growth, says Roy Moberg.

- We know the Chinese market reasonably well through many years of delivery to Chinese shipyards. However, until today, we have handled everything from Halden, which will be too hard if we will succeed with selling and delivering large volumes. Before the summer holiday this year, It was formally made a resolution by the board on the establishment of own factory in China, and we have worked very hard to get this establishment up and go. We are now ready to open the factory on November 18th., and will start from the same date the production of  our own developed refrigeration systems at this factory. The opening will be marked with an official opening ceremony at the factory where our customers, suppliers, official guests and employees are invited to attend. This is an important milestone for Teknotherm, and we hope the factory will give us a significantly better anchorage in the local Chinese market and increase our competitiveness globally, said Roy Moberg.
The factory is located about 2 hours outside of Shanghai in a city called Wuxi.

- We will start to produce small, simple system solutions, but is ready to take the challenge of building larger and more complex systems to the Asian market when the market will demand this. We place great emphasis on quality assurance of the production and use well-known components of European quality.
The workers at the factory in Wuxi has been on an extensive training program at our factory in Halden to learn the company's design and production technics.

Moberg stress that the establishment of own factory in China will not be at the expense of the factory in Halden. The factory in Halden will exist, and the growth in China will help us handle our overall growth in a rational way. - We have in the past year produced refrigeration plants at 8-10 different places around Europe. These will gradually be built down, so in the future we will have two factories which will produce the majority of our overall global needs for refrigeration systems. A successful launch in China will strengthen the factory in Halden, end Moberg.
